Austin suffered a near-life-ending electrocution in a horrific accident along a local train trestle. This accident resulted in burns covering 83% of his body, 30 surgeries, and 178 days in hospitalization. Austin’s accident took both of his hands, one foot, and his recovery includes a harrowing series of infections, skin grafts, therapies, counseling, and a lifelong rehabilitation journey. His road to recovery continues to teach us the meaning of miracles and resilience.
